Balancing safety and baby cribs for cheap – The best of both worlds

Baby cribs for cheap – For any parent that sets out to buy a baby crib, safety is a predominant concern. The reason for this is simple; we want our children to enter into this world in a safe and secure environment. As you’ll see later in this article, cheap and low-cost are two very different realities.

When I bought my first baby crib, I didn’t know the first thing about safety and how it related to baby cribs. I figured that all cribs must be safe, but unfortunately, I was wrong. In this article I want to talk a little bit about what can make a baby crib safe or unsafe.

First off I want to start was something that might be a bit of an issue for parents who are on a tight budget; cheap baby cribs. I want to clarify that when I talk about cheap baby cribs I’m not necessarily talking about low-cost baby cribs, as they are not one and the same. It is possible to get nice, low cost baby cribs. You might have to do some shopping around and compare prices a bit but that’s not to say it’s impossible.

For me, cheap baby cribs are baby cribs that are made out of inferior, cheap material. I know that baby cribs are generally supposed to meet a certain safety standard, and for the most part that’s true, but there is always the one or two that slip through here and there. So, be careful about going to baby shop on a website, and buying the absolute cheapest crib you can find, as it might prove to be of bad quality. Finding an inexpensive model doesn’t mean sacrificing in other areas, like safety and durability.

Next, I want to talk a little bit about drop side baby cribs.  For those who don’t know: drop side baby cribs are cribs that allow you to lower one or both sides of the crib itself. These can be very convenient, especially for a mother who needs access to a baby who wakes up in the middle of the night.

However, FYI, the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) recently did a study on drop side baby cribs, and they found that these cribs can be unsafe for infants also, as the sides can lower without warning if not properly maintained. So if you, like me, prefer to err on the side of caution I would suggest going with a stationary side cribs that.

The last thing I want to mention concerns when you actually get your hands on the crib. If you, or someone else, sets out to assemble a crib, you need to be careful that you do a very good job of assembly, because failure to do so could actually result in the crib collapsing due to lackadaisical work.

In summary: buying very cheap baby cribs might not be the best idea, as they could be unsafe. Drop side baby cribs have been found to be unsafe also, so you might want to go with a stationary side crib. Be careful when you assemble the crib, because if you don’t do a good job the baby crib could actually be at risk of collapse.

Choosing the right crib that balances budgetary concerns with overall safety takes a bit of research, but the results should be quite satisfactory for those who take the time to perform due diligence.
