Making The Most Of Your Bathroom Storage Options
Bathroom storage options – If you have decided it’s time to remodel the bathroom and create more storage space in your bathroom, you have a choice of using several different kinds of units.
If there’s a lot of usable space available in your bathroom, you might think of using a type of cabinet that’s called tallboy .
These kinds of floor units can go as high as six feet tall, and can have one or two doors. Behind the doors are shelves which allow you to store soaps, washcloths, and towels that are easily accessible when needed. If you’re bathroom is a bit short on space, you’ll find there’s a tallboy cabinet in a corner style that would also work well.
The over the toilet shelf rack is another shelf unit that’s popular for smaller bathrooms. These types of units come with a metal stand that goes from the floor to above the toilet tank and comes with shelves. You’re able to optimize the available space by placing the shelves on the frame above your toilet tank.
For smaller items, such as shampoo bottles and soaps, you also have the option of buying wall shelving for your bathroom that can handle those smaller items. A vanity cabinet is by far the storage item most commonly used in bathrooms. Your bathroom sink is placed in the top of the cabinet and it usually has storage space or shelves underneath the sink.
Some of the more modern vanity styles are being built with open shelves instead of the older styles with doors on the front of it. You also have the option of using a double style vanity it you already have two sinks in your bathroom.
Besides the storage area underneath the sink, a bathroom vanity is usually set off by hanging a wall mirror on the wall behind it. You also have the option of hanging cabinet style mirror, or as it’s often called, a medicine cabinet. The door of the cabinet is the mirrored section and it can be opened easily to reach the items stored inside.
Because this mirrored cabinet has smaller interior shelves, the items you can store inside it will be small. Most people tend to use this cabinet for medicines and various toiletry products they want out of sight. There are also the variety of cube products you can purchase that are some of the less expensive and cheaper storage units.
Often, these are built from molded plastic or wood, and will quite often fit perfectly between the sink and the toilet to give you more storage space as well. These are excellent places to keep boxes of tissues and extra rolls of toilet paper.
Consider browsing through some department stores’ “household furnishings” areas to get some ideas about how you can use some rather unique storage items you may not have considered. You’ll find a lot of the open rack designs available will make perfect shelving in your bathroom without creating a sense of your bathroom being crowded.
With a little bit of measuring and pre-planning you’ll find you’ll be able to create more than enough bathroom storage no matter how small the space is. For other great bathroom ideas, be sure to visit our Rival crock pot home page and see how others are learning to live the slow-cookin’ lifestyle.
