May 4, 2010 marks the date of Crockpotliving.com hosting its very first Blog Carnival, and the staff here is simply abuzz with excitement, as we continue to strive towards helping others discover and enjoy the slow-cookin’ lifestyle.

Without further ado, let’s get to the carnival submissions…

Coffee tables are a great way to easily change the style of your room. Make sure you select one with a great design, as well as one that will be hard-wearing and functional for your home. A great coffee table is worth its weight in… coffee?

Sometimes, when a person considers running their home on solar power, even if it’s only their home lighting, the cost of solar panels can be prohibitive. Fortunately, there are many different types of solar panels that you can purchase. You can even make your own!

Lighting generally has four primary functions – decorative, accent, task and ambient. Table, bed and floor lamps often fulfill three of these functions as they are decorative, adding flair to a room. They also enable tasks such as reading or knitting, as well as adding ambient light to a room, creating relaxing atmospheres.

Murano glass has been in favor and demand for hundreds of years. A single piece, like a vase, ashtray, animal figurine or paperweight, can add a touch of elegance to your room. But be careful, Murano glass can be addicting, and you may end up with many more pieces before you know it.

If you are interested in wood plantation shutters, you may also want to look into the possibility of installing faux wood shutters instead. They are often cheaper, and hold up better under damp or humid weather conditions. On the downside, the faux wood shutters are often quite a bit heavier, thus not so convenient if you will be opening and closing your shutters a lot, especially if they are installed over large windows.

If you own a home, you will have many appliances and mechanical systems that will have regular wear ‘n tear expenses. Instead of doing that kind of maintenance yourself, you can buy home warranty insurance. Home warranty is an appliance protection plan and typically covers the appliances and mechanical systems in the home, such as heating, plumbing, electrical systems. However, most home warranty services DO NOT cover structural problems such as a leaky roof or a cracked foundation. That’s why it’s crucial that you always hire a professional home inspector to inspect a home before you buy it.

That concludes this entry into the May 2010 blog carnival. As you can see, we’ve had some exciting additions to the Crockpotliving family this month, and all can be viewed at the rival crock pots home page. Thank you for your continued support…
