Buying Matching Glass Salad Plates
Glass salad plates – A salad is often served either just before or just after the main course. If you are eating in a formal setting your table will only be set with two plates, the larger charger which is a plate that stays in place while your soup, entrée and salad plates sit on top of it, and a bread plate which is placed to the side of the charger. In informal settings, the salad plate is often set to the left of the forks.
A salad plate is usually quite a bit smaller than a regular dinner plate. I is, however larger than a standard bread and dessert plate. Often they are about eight inches wide. They can be either round, or some more modern plates are of a square design.
Usually the plate is a part of the dinner set, thus it matches in appearance with the other plates and bowls used. They are also usually made from the same material that the dinner set is made from, which is more often than not ceramic. It is also fairly common to find melamine salad plates.
Usually they will be bought together as a set with your other plates and bowls, however some dinnerware sets do not include them. If that is the case, you may want to buy your own separate set. If you want the glass salad plates to match your other dinnerware yet you cannot find a set that has the same design your best option would be to buy either white or beige plain plates. These should blend in well.
If you want to add some color to your table setting you could alternatively purchase a set that is a complementary plain color. In other words if your regular setting features soft flower buds on green vines you could look for a salad set that was the same color as the vines. You will usually find these sets wherever you buy your other dinnerware and salad accessories, such as salad servers and salad bowls.
Glass salad plates would make a fine addition to any kitchen and dining setting.
