Julian Assange, the Austalian publisher… is this guy for real…?! Apparently so, and whether you love him or… would rather see him hanging from a tree somewhere in the Kalihari, there is no disputing the polarizing gravity of the topical interest.

Basically, this guy runs a website that represents itself as a legitimate news journalism gathering source, by which nothing, and I mean NOTHING is out of bounds. Classified documents, clandestine identities, total transparency is what this guy strives for, and to this point he seems to be delivering on his promises and his goals.

Admittedly, I didn’t know anything at all about the guy until I stumbled across some Google hits regarding his wikipedia style website, his practices, and his overall ideals and mores. Fascinating stuff, to say the least. And, in a day and age that still regards privacy to be somewhat protected and sacred, even in a digital age such as ours, Julian Assange is not only breaking down some barriers in this arena, he is absolutely smashing them to bits.

There is a worldwide debate about why the world should need such a man as Julian Assange and his Wikileaks website. Love him or hate him, agree with him or despise his very existence, it’s no matter. Journalism is heading in a scarily original direction, and this is just the beginning of the transparency of government agencies, and those who would seek to hide behind the red tape and guise of protective social barriers.
