In fact, some furniture manufacturers have also set up their own online catalogs, and you can order direct from them at a discount.

The third strategy needs you to do a bit of work – buy unfinished bedroom furniture. Because this type of furniture is not painted, waxed or varnished (and may not even be polished), they are sold at a cheaper price. The target market are the DIY-ers. You’ll have to hunt for it, since it is not particularly common. You can also call up or write to various furniture makers and retailers.

The fourth and final strategy needs even more effort – buy used furniture. The best are pieces of bedroom furniture with obvious damage – for example, deep gashes or loose joints. These types of damage seem bad and allow you to really bargain the price down but are actually easy to fix with the right tools. All you need is wood putty for the former and a Kreg jig, clamps plus power drill for the latter. Of course, you will probably need or want to re-finish it before putting the bed and/or wardrobe into use.

If you have ever seen the rich oak panels of some of the famous old buildings, you will definitely be attracted to the splendor of furniture made of oak wood. Oak bedroom furniture is expensive but it is very resistant to environmental damage (e.g. insect attacks) and very tough.
